Red Cross Dollars are Donated Dollars
Dec 23, 2008
Here’s a multiple choice question for you:
‘Tis the season to be…
a) generous.
b) prepared.
c) safe and wise.
d) all of the above.
The Southeast Mississippi Chapter of the American Red Cross can help you make ‘d’ the right answer for you and your family.
Red Cross dollars are donated dollars. Without them, our chapter could not sustain its services to our communities throughout Jackson and George Counties. We rely on the generosity of the American public to fund our efforts in disaster education, preparedness and response, Service to Armed Forces, Health & Safety, and blood services.
Being Red Cross Ready should be a way of life all year round. Preparedness comes through education, training and communication. We offer classes and supplies that improve the quality of life for each citizen. Health & Safety is our business. The more prepared you are, the safer you are, and the less suffering there is during a disaster, whether large scale or single family.
The Christmas holidays should not be the only time of year that we think of others. Every week, our chapter averages response to a family who has experienced a home fire. We provide assistance to meet their immediate, emergency needs including shelter and emotional support. We also support our local emergency responders by providing respite through coffee and sandwiches while they are at the scene of an incident.
We are always at the beck and call of military personnel and their families, serving as the link for emergency communication. We staff blood drives, and we facilitate utility assistance through Mississippi Power’s Project Share program.
So… be generous, be prepared, be safe and wise, and do it with us at the Red Cross!
