National CPR/AED Awareness Week

May 29, 2009

Get Involved and Save a Life!

According to a recent American Red Cross telephone survey*, nearly half of the respondents will be taking part in water-related activities this summer at places where there is no lifeguard present. Almost half also said they had nearly drowned at some point in their life. Developing lifesaving skills is important during any season, but as people are heading to the beach or the pool, it is especially important to arm yourself with the ability to save lives by getting trained in CPR and the proper use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

June 1-7 marks the second annual National CPR/AED Awareness Week, which spotlights how lives can be saved if more Americans know CPR and how to use an AED. During this week, Red Cross chapters across the country will conduct CPR/AED classes and demonstrations, host events, and provide educational information on the importance of CPR and AED training.

In less time than you think, Red Cross training can give you the vital knowledge and skills to respond to a life-threatening situation with confidence.
