Compression Only CPR

Nov 10, 2009

American Red Cross has partnered with Howcast Media to produce and distribute a series of ten “how to” videos on a variety of preparedness and health and safety topics.  Compression-Only CPR is designed for those who have not been trained or can’t recall how to perform full CPR.

In a life-threatening emergency, doing something is better than doing nothing at all.  If you haven’t been trained or can’t recall how to perform full CPR, the Red Cross recommends two simple steps to help  someone survive a cardiac arrest:

  • Call or have someone call 9-1-1 or the local emergency number.
  • Give continuous chest compressions until medical help takes over.

The following videos provides clear, easy-to-follow steps for performing compression-only CPR in the event that you witness the sudden collapse of an adult or adolescent. Click here to find the next CPR class in your area.
